The ASICS UB6-S GT-2160 'Kiko Kostadinov Mantle Green Grape' (2024) continues the forward-thinking design language of the GT-2160 series, elevated through the creative direction of Bulgarian designer Kiko Kostadinov. Rooted in ASICS' early 2010s running heritage, this reinterpretation blurs the line between high-performance functionality and modern fashion, delivering a sneaker that appeals to both techwear enthusiasts and design purists alike.
Overview
The UB6-S GT-2160 'Mantle Green Grape' showcases a bold, futuristic palette—primarily “Mantle Green” with “Grape” accents that lend a dynamic visual contrast. The upper construction features layered mesh and synthetic overlays, enhanced with glossy finishes and sculpted side panels that create a sense of motion. Drawing cues from the original GT-2160, the shoe maintains the segmented midsole, GEL cushioning, and TRUSSTIC™ system for stability and comfort. However, Kiko Kostadinov’s imprint is unmistakable, evident in the tonal asymmetries and layered detailing that push the silhouette into avant-garde territory. A co-branded insole and unique colorblocking further distinguish this collaboration, positioning it as a must-have in the realm of performance-lifestyle crossovers.
Key Highlights
• Kiko Kostadinov Collaboration: Designed in partnership with the London-based designer, known for his utilitarian-meets-futurist aesthetic.
• Mantle Green/Grape Colorway: Bold, high-contrast colors reflect both nature and innovation—an ongoing theme in the UB6-S line.
• Advanced ASICS Performance Tech: Retains the GT-2160’s original GEL™ cushioning and TRUSSTIC™ midfoot support for responsive, all-day comfort.
